Mackay to Maroochydore.....

We took a tour around Ben’s property on this awesome buggy
when we popped in for a visit in Mackay.
Tac caught this beautiful flathead on a surface lure in one of our favourite places
called Cape Palmerston.
Sunrise in Maroochydore where......

.......we enjoyed morning walks on the beach and.....
......caught up with Mum and Dad for a few relaxing days.

The Whitsundays....

We left the NT behind and travelled East into Qld where we spent 4 nights in Airlie Beach.  This is the view from the lookout at Shute Harbour.  We caught a water transport boat from here out to......
....Long Island for a day of relaxing on a quiet island in the Whitsundays.
We said goodbye to Long Island at the end of a magic day and headed back to the mainland.

We came across this snake on a walk along the esplanade.  It slithered down the tree trunk and disappeared!

We survived the Gibb!

The end of the Gibb River Road what an amazing adventure!
Here’s we are with our friends Jay and Michelle on our last night travelling together at the Daly Waters Pub.
It was a night to remember with lots of dancing and celebrating after 3 weeks of red dirt and corrugations!

The fishing charter.....

Our fishing charter awaits at Honeymoon Bay......

Firstly we caught live bait from the beach with “Geoff” one of our aboriginal guides.

Then the fun begins as we caught fish....

....after fish.

Tac catches a small fish and as he winds in a big cod takes the small fish.

I finished the day with a beautiful big Golden Snapper or otherwise known as Fingermark.

Our catch at the end of 3 hours.  Not a bad mornings work for Jay, Tac, Michelle and I!

Kalumburu....

On the drive out to Kalumburu we faced a few river crossings with crocodile warnings.  Best not to stop in the middle!!

Our camp spot with the fisherman’s hut overlooking the beach at Honeymoon Bay 30km north of Kalumburu.

The view of Honeymoon Bay from our bed in our camp trailer.
This is Roger from the community at Kalumburu where we purchased one of his paintings.

Mitchell Falls.....

Some of the rock art on our trek out to Mitchell Falls.
One of the amazing views along the way.......

.......until you reach the finale the very famous “Mitchell Falls”.
It was a long 2.5 hour journey in our 4wds to do only 70kms as the road in was heavily corrugated!

Gibb River Road.....

We finished the Tanami and headed West through Fitzroy Crossing
and then back out on the dirt once more towards the Gibb River Road.
First stop was Tunnel Creek with a very unique underground cave.
It was a bit  scary walking through the creek in the darkness of the cave.
Manning Gorge was definitely a highlight.  We took a swim in the cool water.

Another picturesque shot of the gorge. It is a truly spectacular spot on the Gibb.

The Tanami.......

Camping along the Tanami Road with our friends Jay and Michelle.  It is our first night travelling together on a 3 week adventure.

Tac and Jason are covering up our back broken window on the canopy after a rock smashed it!
Our second day on the Tanami Road brings us to the famous Wolfe Creek Crater.

We climbed to the rim and checked out the huge size!

MacDonnell Ranges....

We also visited Ormiston Gorge and.....
....Ellery Creek Big Hole in the MacDonnell Ranges.
This is Albert Namatjira’s house who is the famous Aboriginal painter.

Not far up the road is Palm Valley in the Finke Gorge National Park.

Kings Canyon.....

The rim walk around the top of Kings Canyon....
.....was breathtaking!!
As you can see the views were mind blowing.

Some of the cliffs were sheer drops and I didn’t want to get too close to the edge!

Dingo!

We finished travelling the Great Central Road which brought us to......
........Kata Tjuta (The Olga’s).....
....and Uluru (Ayers Rock).  It was great to see both of these amazing landmarks for a second time.

This gorgeous dingo was wandering around camp and loved having her photo taken.  We could have patted her but they are a wild dog and it is not allowed.  Their howling during the night is something we love to hear.

Great Central Road....

“London Bridge” not far from a neat little gold mining town called Sandstone.
The start of the Great Central Road in Laverton (before you hit the dirt) which travels across the centre of Australia.
Stopping to get fuel at Warburton Roadhouse where we stayed the night.
The campground is surrounded by a high fence and the fuel is all locked in cages!

One of the many camels we have come across along the roadside.  Mostly they travel in herds which can be a bit dangerous!
