Farming lesson....

We got to have a ride on this huge tractor whilst they planted more wheat.
This is the view out the back of the tractor window watching the seeder in action.
Our boss “Peter” is giving Tac a lesson on how the seeder works.

A storm is brewing as we close the gate after finishing the paddock.

New Norcia....

One of the huge seeding tractors on the farm.  This machinery is what plants all the different seeds and rips up all the rocks in the ground that we have to pick up.
We spent today back at New Norcia in the town built and run by the Benedictine monks.  I am standing in front of the huge doors of the orphanage for aboriginal girls built back in the 1800’s.  After walking amongst all the historical buildings we had lunch in their pub and of course sampled one or two of their Abbey Ale beers!!

The new Optus Stadium....

Tac is out the front ready for a big game in Perth at the new stadium.  Go Tigers!!!
It’s an impressive stadium and.......
.......our boss from the farm gave us his members seats for the game!
Unfortunately we’re in the 4th qtr and Tigers aren’t looking good.

Happy Mother’s Day.....

Happy Mother’s Day to our Mums from two dusty kids!  This is what we look like after a day’s work picking rocks.
We come across quite a few really big rocks......

.....that Tac smashes up into pieces with a sledge hammer so we can pick them up!
It’s bloody hard yakka!!

“Calenup”

Spent a few nights at Merredin (in the Wheatbelt) and took in the sights.  This rock formation was like a mini version of “Wave Rock” a few hundred km South from here.

This will be our home for the next 5 weeks or so while we pick rocks on the property.
It is one of the 8 farm houses on the huge wheat and sheep farm where we will be working. This particular section of the farm is called “Calenup”.

Flat tyre!!

Amazing ‘silo art’ along the journey......
......which you had to see to appreciate the size and detail.

A tasty feed of blue swimmers that we......

.....caught off this jetty in Ceduna, along with a few tasty squid!

This local bloke was reeling in snook after snook next to us!
Tac is having a laugh at a roadhouse in Eucla along the Nullarbor!

He was not laughing so much this morning when we woke up in a lopsided camper.  The tyre had gone down overnight after a shard of steel pierced the tyre.

Our first stop is Keith in SA a cute little town.....

.....where we thought we should try a beer at the local!!
